Pet Pantry Eligibility Guidelines

These guidelines are set in order for us to help as many families as possible. We ask that these guidelines are followed in order for a household to receive assistance:

Application Requirements To participate in the Community Pet Pantry:
  • All participants must fill out the Application to Receive Assistance
  • Participants are asked to provide basic information about their pet (species, number, approximate weight,etc) to ensure appropriate distribution of supplies
The following documentation must be provided before an application can be approved:
  • Valid identification card or driver’s license
  • Proof of residency (utility bill, pay stub, lease agreement, mortgage statement, etc)
  • Proof of number of pets (rabies certificate, veterinary bill, dog license certificate, vaccination certificate, etc)
*Only one application per household will be accepted.

Participant Responsibilities:

By receiving assistance from the pantry, participants agree to the following:

  • Pets are for companionship and not for breeding or any illegal activities.
    • Breeding animals are not eligible at this time.
    • Outdoor cat colonies are not eligible at this time.
  • Any pet receiving assistance must be kept primarily indoors.
    • Any pet solely kept outdoors is not eligible at this time.
  • Participants will maintain healthy living conditions for their pet(s) including but not limited to:
    • Fresh water provided daily
    • Adequate food provided daily
    • Access to basic veterinary care

*If you are unable to maintain this level of care, please notify us.

  • Pets must have a current rabies vaccination to continue receiving assistance after the first time.
  • Pets over one year of age must be spayed or neutered, or scheduled to be spayed/neutered within a reasonable timeframe after receiving assistance.
*If you need help locating low-cost spay/neuter services, we are happy to provide resources.

Participants agree to notify Milford Animal Hospital if:

  • They move outside the tri-state area
  • The number of pets in the household changes

Participants agree that:

  • Supplies obtained from the pantry will not be resold.
  • Participants will not add additional animals to the household while receiving assistance.
  • Pet food pantry assistance is limited to once per month (the third Friday of every month starting May 15th) and quantities may vary based on available donations.
  • Pet food pantry items are distributed based on available donations and inventory. The program cannot guarantee specific brands, quantities, or continued availability.
  • Participants agree to notify Milford Animal Hospital and discontinue pantry assistance once they are able to consistently provide their own pet supplies.
