CT Scans

CT scan may be the next best option.

What is a CT Scan? Computed Tomography (CT) is an advanced imaging modality that takes cross‑sectional images of your pet’s body. CT can be used to visualize many different areas, including—but not limited to—the abdominal cavity, spine, and skull. These images create a three‑dimensional view of the scanned region, unlike digital X‑rays or ultrasound. They also provide greater detail than those modalities, allowing for a more in‑depth examination. A board‑certified radiologist will review the images after they are taken and generate a report outlining their findings and recommendations. The most common conditions that shockwave therapy may benefit include:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pain Management
  • Joint Injury
  • Orthopedic Post-op Healing

What Can a CT Scan Be Used For?

When digital X‑rays or ultrasound aren’t enough to aid in diagnosing your pet, a CT scan may be the next best option. Common conditions that may require a CT scan include:

  • Tumors
  • Complex fractures
  • Inner ear conditions
  • Traumatic injury
  • Spinal conditions
  • Internal bleeding

Bottom Title After you book your pet’s appointment, we’ll contact you to confirm the date and time and share any night‑before instructions. When you arrive the morning of the appointment, you’ll complete brief paperwork before leaving your pet with us.

Your pet will have their vitals checked and blood work performed prior to the procedure. If the results are satisfactory, an IV catheter will be placed and sedation will be administered. Please note: Some pets may need full anesthesia depending on the nature of the scan.

Once positioned, state-of-the-art monitoring equipment will be placed so a technician can watch their vitals throughout the scan. Each scan site typically takes 5–10 minutes.
Afterward, your pet will be woken up and monitored until their vitals return to normal. We’ll call you when the scan is done and give you a pick‑up time. When you return, a technician will bring your pet out and review the at‑home instructions for the rest of the day.

We will receive the radiologist’s report within 48 hours. A copy will be emailed to you, and the findings will be discussed as well as next steps.

Dental Disease

Unfortunately, too many believe in treating dental disease once problems have become visible or a patient is classified as a senior. However, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), periodontal disease is the most common dental condition occurring in both dogs and cats as young as 3 years old. Also, the majority of dental disease and problems occur below the gum line. That is why our comprehensive dental procedures always include the use of anesthesia and digital radiography to fully assess all areas of the mouth. While your pet is resting comfortably, we can effectively scale and polish the teeth, and make any necessary extractions or corrections.
