Milford Animal Hospital is currently seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join a multi-doctor hospital with an experienced team member base in a well-established hospital! We are located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, 1.5 hours from NYC. Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing vital support to our veterinarians in ensuring the utmost care for our patients
  • Run in-house laboratory testing.
  • Perform dental prophylaxis.
  • Assist veterinarians during treatments/procedures.
  • Monitor critically ill or injured patients closely.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure around-the-clock care and treatment coordination.
  • Offer compassionate care and support to patients and their owners.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Maintain stock of all medications in use within the hospital and dispensed by the practice.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as bloodwork and imaging.
    • Obtain samples for testing. i.e. Blood, urine, feces
  • Perform external cardiac resuscitative efforts.
  • Perform intravenous catheterization.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain medical equipment and tools.
  • Communicate with pet owners regarding patient updates and treatment plans.
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and provide care as needed.
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations.
  • Implant microchips
  • Apply bandages.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with minimum 1 to 3 years of experience who is well-versed in patient care, medication dispensing, and rooming appointments. Strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring and blood drawing. An interest in surgery is a plus but not a requirement.
